SoilWise officially launched the SoilWise Data and Knowledge Repository (SWR) in February 2025. We invite all interested parties to join us as project stakeholders and help us validate the results of our development, provide feedback and further insights on the SWR.
SoilWise project has actively participated in different events, both conferences and meetings. Some of them were organized by the project itself, with an aim to attract more stakeholders, and in some of them SoilWise participated as a guest, promoting the planned activities. Our journey is only starting!
The first prototype of the SoilWise Data and Knowledge Repository is here! An integrated access point for soil data and knowledge across Europe has been developed, ensuring that information is FAIR – findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. Exclusive online demonstration sessions are being organized across our Use Cases, tailored to specific stakeholder groups. These sessions highlight how researchers, policymakers, land managers, and other stakeholders can easily access and contribute valuable soil data.
Following the successful delivery of the first prototype of the SoilWise Data and Knowledge Repository, series of lively demonstration events began in April, bringing together three key stakeholder groups from across our Use Cases — UC1: Land Managers, UC2: Research Community, UC5: Business Community and Farming Professionals. These events provide stakeholders with hands-on experience in utilizing the repository for monitoring soil health, implementing sustainable soil management strategies, and improving agricultural productivity.
From practical tools that support land management to new opportunities for collaboration in research and innovation, the SoilWise Data and Knowledge Repository prototype is already making an impact.

Czech & Slovak joint INSPIRE conference, 2024, from the 20th to the 21st of November 2024, took place in Slovakia. During the event, SoilWise was presented, highlighting its pioneering repository that advances soil data and knowledge management in alignment with the European Union Soil Observatory’s goals. Discussions centered on SoilWise’s crucial role in promoting sustainable land management and supporting informed decision-making across Europe. Engaging with experts in geospatial and environmental data continues to inspire innovation, driving the future of soil management forward.
The SoilWise project marked a significant milestone at the start of 2025 by presenting at the Global Soil Partnership’s Tenth Meeting of the International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII), held on January 16th in Ethiopia.
During the event, SoilWise colleagues delivered an invited talk titled “Global Soil Information System Data Model and Ontology Network.” This impactful event, organized by the FAO, provided a valuable platform for sharing insights and fostering dialogue on advancing global soil knowledge and promoting sustainability.
Our next consortium meeting will take place in October 2025 in the picturesque city of Wageningen, Netherlands, hosted by our esteemed project partner, ISRIC. This gathering will provide an opportunity to tackle key challenges and constraints encountered throughout the project while exploring strategies for improvement and future progress..
