From Launch to Upgrade: SoilWise Repository Set for Major Design Update in August 2025

SoilWise project is proud to announce the official release of the first prototype of its innovative SoilWise Repository in February 2025. This initial iteration marks a significant achievement in soil data and knowledge management, providing a cuttingedge platform designed to enhance sustainable land management practices across Europe.

With this launch, the project celebrates the successful completion of Milestone 4 and the end of the first complete iteration of the SoilWise platform. This milestone represents a pivotal point in the project timeline, reflecting extensive collaboration, technical development, and validation with stakeholders across Europe. It establishes a robust foundation for future enhancements and scaleup phases.

Currently, the team is actively working on design improvements aimed at further optimizing the user experience and functionality of the repository. These enhancements are scheduled to be completed and deployed by midAugust 2025, promising an even more powerful and intuitive platform for soil data management.

The SoilWise Repository serves as a centralized digital hub, integrating comprehensive soil datasets, research outputs, and best practices tailored to support policymakers, researchers, farmers, and land managers in making informed, datadriven decisions. Developed in alignment with the European Green Deal and the EU Soil Strategy for 2030, the repository is set to revolutionize soil data accessibility and interoperability.

Demonstration Events Across User Cases

To showcase the functionalities and practical applications of the SoilWise Repository, a series of demonstration events in each of the project’s User Cases across Europe began in April. The first sessions brought together key stakeholder groups from across our Use Cases including Land Managers, Research Community, Business Sector, Farming Professionals, and, in a joint session, Living Lab actors. These events provided stakeholders with handson experience in utilizing the repository for monitoring soil health, implementing sustainable soil management strategies, and improving agricultural productivity.

Each demonstration event includes:
Live demonstrations of the repository’s features and capabilities.
Expert presentations on datadriven soil management solutions.
Interactive workshops for stakeholders to explore and contribute to the repository.
Networking opportunities for researchers, policymakers, farmers, other EU projects, and interested parties.

The SoilWise project is committed to fostering collaboration and empowering stakeholders with advanced digital tools for soil monitoring and sustainable land use. By engaging with the repository and participating in the demonstration events, users will gain valuable insights into optimizing soil health and resilience in the face of climate change.
