SoilWise launched the MVP of the SoilWise Repository (SWR) in September 2024. We invite all interested parties to join us as project stakeholders and help us validate the results of our development, provide feedback and further insights on the SWR.
Project SoilWise has actively participated in different events, both conferences and meetings. Some of them were organized by the project itself, with an aim to attract more stakeholders, and in some of them SoilWise participated as a guest, promoting the planned activities. Our journey is only starting!
First SOILWISE Stakeholder Event
The project invited all interested stakeholders to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the future SoilWise Repository and participate in the project. The event was held on the 19th of September 2024, online, when farmers, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders had an opportunity to hear more on the project outputs for now, and complete a survey of project participation.

The Global Symposium on Soil Information and data, 2024, from the 25th to the 28th of September, took place in Nanjing, China. The event was co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization, the Global Soil Partnership and the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSCAS). This symposium gathered stakeholders, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners in an international forum to discuss the key role of comparable and reliable soil data. Our presentation, titled “SoilWise: Repository Pioneering the Future of Soil Data and Knowledge Management for the European Union Soil Observatory“, showcased our innovative advancements in soil data and knowledge management. This was an opportunity for SoilWise to participate in the discussions on developing and implementing policies based on robust soil data.
The Open Living Lab days which took place from the 24th to the 27th of September, 2024, convened living lab stakeholders to address significant possibilities of integrating living lab actors in the agri-food industry with the SoilWise project outputs, both on the side of data providers but also data users. Hosted in collaboration with the University of Timisoara, Romania, the SoilWise project had its representatives at the event, looking for potential collaborations. Living labs in the agri-food sector have a huge possibility of contributing to the SWR, since the quadruple helix and the living lab concept includes policy makers, farmers, academia and citizen stakeholder groups at one place.
Our next consortium meeting is scheduled for the 29th to the 31st of October, 2024, in the captivating city of Florence, Italy, hosted by our project partner CREA-AA. During the project meeting our goal is to address the challenges and bottlenecks encountered during the first year and explore how we can improve moving forward.
