Stakeholder mapping is an important part of the SoilWise co-creation approach. It goes beyond identifying relevant organisations to understanding who needs what, who can contribute what, and where connections can be made. It helps identify stakeholders, understand their interests and roles, and connect them with the User Cases where their knowledge, experience and needs are most relevant.
For each User Case, SoilWise works with relevant stakeholder groups to identify user needs and requirements. These are further described through user stories and help guide the development, testing and validation of SoilWise solutions.

The SoilWise stakeholder community is connected to five User Cases:
Stakeholders involved in land management and the use of soil information for soil-related decisions.
Researchers and organisations working with soil research, data and knowledge.
Policy makers and public authorities using soil data and knowledge for policy making and evaluation.
Living Lab actors involved in multi-actor activities around soil, land and related challenges.
Businesses, farming professionals and other actors interested in using soil data and knowledge for products, technologies, services and professional activities.
Stakeholders can have different roles within the SoilWise ecosystem.
Data providers contribute to the SoilWise Repository. They include organisations that generate, manage, curate or hold soil-related data and knowledge.
Data users help define the needs and requirements that SoilWise solutions should address. They explore, use and provide feedback on the data and knowledge made discoverable through SoilWise.
Some stakeholders can be both data providers and data users. The research community, for example, can contribute data and knowledge while also using resources provided by others.
Stakeholder mapping is an ongoing process.
SoilWise connects with stakeholders through project partners, existing networks, EU Mission Soil activities, Living Labs, related projects, events, workshops and other engagement activities.
The stakeholder network also creates opportunities to connect SoilWise with other initiatives working on soil data and knowledge management.
