SoilWise Holds Its Third Annual Meeting in Brno

SoilWise consortium gathered in Brno, Czech Republic, from 29 September to 1 October 2026 for its Third Annual Meeting, bringing partners together for three days of knowledge exchange, collaborative discussions and strategic planning.

As SoilWise enters the final phase of the project, the meeting provided an important opportunity to reflect on progress, review ongoing activities and align priorities for the period ahead. Hosted at Masaryk University, the meeting brought partners together to strengthen collaboration across project components, address shared challenges and discuss the next steps towards achieving the project’s objectives.

Reviewing progress and strengthening collaboration

The meeting opened with a review of the past year, during which partners reflected on achievements, delays, risks and lessons learned. Interactive discussions provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives and consider how collaboration across the consortium could be further strengthened.

Attention then turned to the SoilWise components, with component leads and co-leads presenting updates on their status, needs and next steps. Feedback sessions and group discussions focused on dependencies between components, potential bottlenecks and opportunities for closer cooperation.

Advancing integration and implementation

The second day focused on key areas of project implementation, including the SoilWise Catalogue, integration with the European Union Soil Observatory (EUSO), relations with the European Commission, and demonstration planning and best practices.

Partners also worked on component-team action points, rolling planning and the project’s business model. These discussions supported the consortium’s efforts to coordinate activities and consider how SoilWise outputs can be implemented and used effectively.

Beyond the formal sessions, the programme offered opportunities for informal exchange, including a tour of Brno City Hall and a walk through the city centre.

Looking ahead to the final phase

The final day addressed project management and periodic reporting, as well as communication, dissemination and exploitation. The meeting concluded with a discussion on the way forward, focusing on priorities, responsibilities and delivery timelines.

As the project enters its final phase, maintaining strong collaboration, clear priorities and coordinated action will be essential to advancing SoilWise’s objectives and maximising the value and reach of its results.

The Third Annual Meeting in Brno marked an important opportunity for the consortium to take stock of its progress, strengthen cooperation and look ahead to the work still to come.
